What is 사투리(Saturi)? [PART 2]

Yeay! I am here for the second part of the saturi series. As I mentioned in my previous post, this part will be about Busan, which really amazes me everytime I hear somebody with Busan accent.

I explained a little about about different districts in Korea and one of them is Gyeongsang. Busan is in Southern Gyeongsang.

Gyeongsang is known for its manly men nature (you know what I mean, right?)! In this dialect, high peaks and low valleys are generally seen and this dialect uses tones to make a distinction between homonymic words. To put it simple, People with this accent talks aggressively and strongly. If you want to read and learn more about this dialect more technically, just take a look at this post by another blogger (click click).

So, what will be the difference between Seoul accent and Busan accent?

Firstly, in Busan satoori, people mostly use(o) sound instead of (e) sound. For example, people with this accent would say 엄식 (omshik) instead of 음식 (emshik- food).

Moreover, in Seoul accent if you want to say "What are you doing?", it goes like this "뭐해" (Meo Hwe). However, in Busan accent it is "뭐하노!" (Meo Hano).

Just want to thank. Then, if you are in Busan, say it like this: 고마 해라 (Koma Hae Ra). You want your boyfriend or girlfriend to answer you immediately! Then this is coming for you guys. Answer it: 응답하라 (Eung-dab-ha-ra)

In Busan accent, you will hear a lot of "" (Ra) sound.

There are so many idols from Busan as you may already know. Want to hear them with their strong Busan accent? Let's go! The most enjoyable part just begins!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1- BTS Jimin

His Busan accent is not a joke! Jimin really likes to show his strong Busan accent in his vlogs. For the ones who wonder of his Busannish way of talking, just check other videos!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2- CNBLUE Yonghwa & 2PM Taecyeon

Yonghwa starts the Busan saturi challenge first, and then Taecyeon takes the lead! It is just really funny to watch them trying to be the strongest one in saturi.

If you want to learn how to talk like a Busan man or woman, there is a great post in Naver. Just go here!

See you in my third saturi post!

My goodbye sentence comes with a strong Busan accent:

아따..우리할매 와따 다..그랬나? (The best..Our granny is the best..Right?)
