What is 사투리(Saturi)? [PART 1]

I came with a really enjoyable topic this time (at least I am going crazy while listening different Korean dialects, so I hope you do, too). Let Rap Monster, Suga and J-hope make the intro;

As many of you know, Korea has different dialects in different regions of the country. And, I am going to show you how many different dialects Korea has with a bunch of idols speaking saturi (means dialect in Korean). 

First, a little bit background information of saturi. 

Korea has several administrative districts, which approximately corresponds with the cultural regions of the peninsula. And, there are 6 regions in Korea; 

1- Seoul (little blue colored area surronded with olive)/ Gyeonggi (olive oil colored area)
2- Gangwon (tan colored area)
3- Chuncheong (orange and red colored areas)
4- Yeongnam (light green and yellow colored areas)
5- Honam (light and dark purple colored areas)
6- Jeju (blue colored island)

Every region has its own unique traditions, way of speaking, cultural values, or manners, and so on. Therefore, it is really fun to observe each of them in detail. 

This post will only go over the first dialect- so it will be like an article series, others will be explained later. 

1- Seoul / Gyeonggi:
As many of you experienced the Seoul dialect (and generally it is not referred to as dialect but an accent), it will be really easy to understand if a Korean speaks with Seoul accent or not.
According to the National Institute of Korean Language, Seoul accent is the standard way of speaking Korean language. However, there are also some different pronounciations of words in Seoul accent compared to the standard Korean language. For example, generally the ㅗ ("oh") changed with ㅜ ("ooh"). If you want to read the word 삼촌 (samchon=uncle) in Seoul accent, you say it like 삼춘 (samchoon) (source).
