It has been a long time since I posted in the blog. I am very active on Instagram since I came to South Korea.
However, as this topic is important and needs to be written in detail, I came to tell you about Korean medicine.
23 August 2017- I went to the Koreaners' Free Traditional Korean Medicine Experience with one of my friends. Thanks to the Meetup application, I always find awesome meetings around Seoul.
The meeting was only open for 10 people in total, so you should be quick to reserve your seat for this free experience. This experience is only open to the international visitors who are interested in Korean traditional medicine. If you want to try this experience yourself, you need to pay 100.000 KRW. However, for this meeting it is totally FREE of charge. What a lucky day!
After applying for the event and got accepted, we went to Myeongdong. The place is really easy to find. I'll give you the address and how to go information at the end of this post.
The meeting started with introducing ourselves. There were people from China, the USA, Brazil, Australia and me, of course, from Turkey. According to the time we came, we received our number to take the acupuncture experience with the doctor.
First of all, they explained what the Korean medicine is and how the medicine is used. Also, Korean Medicine Center gave the necessary information about how to use their service to find the hospital you need for the treatment you want. You can use online counseling; use a phone; or face to face counseling. The Korean Medicine Center was founded last year, so it is a really new place and they are really ready to help you. And, it is free to get the information! You do not have to pay for anything you ask for.
Back to the medicine experience, a doctor from Jaseng Hospital came to make a presentation and give us one-on-one counseling and acupuncture. In the hospital, they have 3 types of acupuncture:
1- motion style acupuncture treatment
2- pharmacopuncture (herbal acupuncture; good for alleviating pain and strengthening muscles)
3- chuna manipulation (good for blood circulation and stress relief)
This is the only hospital that has three types of acupunctures. The others only have two types of it. Jaseng incorporated two types of acupuncture and found a new type of acupuncture.
After the presentation, the face-to-face counseling with the doctor started. While we were waiting for our turn, we made a small bag filled with herbal: cinnamon, Angelica roots, cinidium, and Pal-gak-hyang. Making this traditional herbal sachet is really enjoyable! Let's check the pictures. Also, every herbal is good for several things and you can choose based on that.

And yes, finally my turn to receive the counseling and acupuncture!
As you can guess, the doctor is Korean but no worries. There is a translator in the room with you. As I know Korean, I spoke with him in Korean sometimes and when my Korean is not enough to explain the medical issues, I just asked the translator.
Another patient's experience with the doctor
The doctor first asked me if I have any issues with my body(muscles), I only have a little issue about my right leg sometimes. When I am so tired and walked a lot or stand up too long, the back of my right leg hurts. I told him and he checked it. Fortunately it was not a big peoblem but in case of it happening again he told me to receive a total check up. After that, he gave me an acupuncture and herbal injection for overall body goodness (nutritions).
Acupuncture in progress
The things to experience in this meeting is not finished yet! You can try several various Hanboks. And they took a poloraid picture of us in Hanboks amd gave us as a present.
The last experience is to taste the Korean oriental medicinal tea. The taste is a little bit sour but you feel the healthiness while drinking it.
