You know I enjoyed my Buyeo trip a lot because the area was sooooo peaceful and beautiful!! 

Nestled along the serene banks of the Geum River, Buyeo beckons travelers to step back in time and explore the rich tapestry of Korea's cultural heritage. As one of Korea's UNESCO-listed World Heritage sites, Buyeo is a hidden gem that seamlessly blends history, nature, and architectural splendor.

Buyeo served as the capital of the ancient Baekje Kingdom, one of the Three Kingdoms of Korea that flourished from the 18 BCE to 660 CE. Exploring the Timeless Beauty of Hwaseong Fortress: A UNESCO World Heritage Gem in Suwon, Korea

Today's blog article is going to be about one of my favorite places in South Korea.

Nestled in the heart of Suwon, South Korea, Hwaseong Fortress stands as a testament to the nation's rich history and cultural heritage. This magnificent fortress, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is a must-visit destination for history enthusiasts, architecture admirers, and anyone seeking a glimpse into Korea's storied past.

The History Behind Hwaseong Fortress:

Constructed in the late 18th century during the Joseon Dynasty, Hwaseong Fortress was commissioned by King Jeongjo in honor of his father, Crown Prince Sado. The fortress was meticulously planned and designed to serve multiple purposes, including defense, administration, and commerce.


Hwaseong Fortress is renowned for its innovative architectural features, including strong defensive walls, watchtowers, and four main gates – Paldalmun (South Gate), Janganmun (North Gate), Changnyongmun (East Gate), and Hwaseomun (West Gate). 1 yıllık bir aranın ardından staj serisine konaklama yazımla geri döndüm, herkese merhaba!

En sonki yazıda stajdan kabul mektubunuz gelmişti ve artık bir yer ayarlama sürecine girmeniz gerekiyor. Bu süreçte seçenekleriniz şu şekilde:

1- Üniversitenin yurtları
2- Airbnb
3- Guesthouse/Hostel/Otel vb.
4- Goşivon (Kore'de genelde öğrencilerin kaldığı, içerisinde banyosu, yatağınız ve çalışma masanızın olduğu küçük odalar)
5- Homestay

Üniversitenizin yurtlarını öğrenmek için önce okulun kendi websitesinden araştırma yapıp başvuru alınıyor mu ve süreç nasıl işliyor bakmanız gerekmekte. Bu konuda beraber çalışacağınız hocadan da destek isteyebilirsiniz. Yurtlara ait sorumlu kişinin e-mail adresine hangi bölümde kiminle çalışacağınız ve staj için gideceğiniz süreleri  belirtip yurtta kalma imkanınız var mı diye sorabilirsiniz. Ben o şekilde yurt sorumlusu ile görüştüm ve bana yurtlarda kalamayacağımı belirtip, okulun anlaşmalı olduğu homestay ve goşivon yerlerinin website bilgilerini yolladı.

Üniversitenizin konumu bu noktada çok önem kazanıyor, üniversite çevrelerinde en çok bulabileceğiniz konaklama tipi goşivonlar. Bazılarının agoda ve booking gibi sitelerde rezervasyon aldıkları oluyor fakat daha fazla seçeneğe ulaşabilmeniz adına Korece arama yapmanız gerekebiliyor.
Benim Apgujeong'ta tercih ettiğim goşivon Cony House isimli yerdi, odaların nasıl olduğuna dair fikir edinmek adına buradan bakabilirsiniz.

Konaklamanız uzun süreli olacaksa bu tarz yerlerin genelde Kakaotalk'ta hesapları oluyor, indirim almak adına mutlaka mesaj atmanızı öneririm. Rezervasyon siteleri üzerinden komisyon alındığı için fiyatta oynama yapılamıyor ama bizzat görüşürseniz uzun süreli kalmalarda güzel indirimler elde edebilirsiniz.

Kore'de Staj Nasıl Ayarlanır? [PART 2]



Selamlar herkese,

İlk yazı serisinin üzerinden oldukça zaman geçti. Bu ikinci kısımda e-mail attıktan sonra ne gibi süreçlerden geçtiğimden bahsedeceğim.


Ben hocalarla iletişime geçtiğimde Psikoloji alanı Kore'de Amerika veya Kanada'da olduğu kadar uluslararası bir popülerliğe sahip olmadığından bazı hocaların yabancı öğrenci alacak kapasiteye sahip lab'ları yoktu. E-maillerinize hepsi geri dönüş yapmayacak, yapanlardan red alacaksınız. Bunların moralinizi bozmasına izin vermeden başka hocalarda şansınızı denemeye devam etmelisiniz. Biyoloji, genetik, kimya gibi alanlarda çok daha şansınız yüksek olabilir. Ama bu demek değildir ki başka alanlar staj asla yapamaz, ilk siz gidersiniz ve yol açılmış olur o yüzden denemekten çekinmeyin.

Benim okulda Kore Tarihi derslerini aldığım hocam SNU'da yanında çalışmak istediğim hocaya referans e-maili atıp hakkımda birkaç güzel şeyi Korece yazdıktan sonra hocaya benim e-maillerimin ulaşmadığı ortaya çıktı. Tekrar özgeçmişimi, kısa bir bilgilendirme ve neden o lab'da çalışmak istediğimi anlatan e-maili hocaya yolladım. Bu sayede süreç başlamış oldu.

Hocanın bana söyledikleri şu oldu ilk etapta:
- Kalabalık bir lab olduğu için şu an sana herhangi bir finansal destek sağlayamayacağım buna tamam diyorsan seve seve lab'e gelip aramıza katılabilirsin.
- Kütüphaneyi kullanabilmen için kart çıkarttıracağım.
- Yurt konusunda destek isteyip istemediğimi sordu.

Kendi bütçemi ayarladığım için lab'dan para alamayacak olmak beni zorlamadı fakat bütçeniz kısıtlı ise ve alanınız bu konuda ufak staj yardımlarına açık ise hocanıza sormaktan çekinmeyin. Hiç beklemediğiniz bütçelere sahip olup yardım edebilecek lab'lar mevcut.

Bölümün sekreterinden kabul mektubu yazımı aldıktan sonra yurtlarla kendim iletişime geçtim. SNU yurt konusunda oldukça katı. Eğer resmi bir anlaşma sonucunda araştırmaya gitmiyorsanız yurtta kalmanıza olanak vermiyorlar. Hocaların kendi kontenjanları oluyor yine bu konuda da şansınıza kalmış, eğer hoca size kontenjanından yer ayarlatırsa yurt ayarlayabiliyorsunuz. Benim gittiğim dönemde Amerika'dan bir araştırmacı bölüme geldiği için hoca kontenjanını çoktan o kişiye kullanmıştı.

Yurt ayarlayamadığımdan dolayı hostellere ve airbnb üzerinden kiralık oda-evlere bakmaya başladım. Konaklama ile ilgili kısmı ayrı bir yazıda detaylı anlatacağım.

Kabul mektubunuzu aldıktan sonra derin bir nefes alıp rahatça uçak biletlerine bakmaya başlayabilirsiniz, artık resmi bir onayınız var tebrikler!
